Below Ground Cast Iron
Cast iron below ground drainage systems are used extensively on Commercial and Public buildings for suspended and buried drainage particularly under the building, where its strength and ‘fit and forget’ performance is critical. Cast iron below ground pipes and fittings are also favoured for bridges due to its strength, its identical expansion rate to concrete and its non-combustibility if exposed to burning fuels.

The benefits of using cast iron for below ground applications include:
- Superior crushing strength for buried applications
- Requires less bedding than other materials
- Mechanical couplings provide rigidity and flexibility to accommodate ground movement and voids
- Strength to withstand over vigorous rodding
